Ceramic Fiber Launder for Aluminum Casting

Ceramic fiber composite products are widely used in modern aluminum foundries. Our ceramic fiber launder offers exceptional non-wetting, non-sticking properties and low heat absorption – no preheating required before use.

The launder surface is dense, smooth as porcelain glaze, and features high strength (comparable to stainless steel) while being lightweight. The specially formulated material does not react with molten aluminum. When used with our BN (Boron Nitride) coating, it completely prevents silicon pickup or any other metal contamination, and eliminates cross-contamination between different alloy batches. Easy to install and maintain.

Customized composite launders are available.

Applications

  • High pressure die casting (HPDC)
  • Gravity casting and tilt casting
  • Aluminum alloy transfer from melting furnace to casting station
  • Foundries requiring frequent alloy changes
  • Production of high-purity aluminum components (automotive, aerospace, electronics)

Key Advantages – Why Choose This Ceramic Launder

  • Non-wetting & non-sticking – Molten aluminum flows freely without adhesion.
  • No preheating – Saves energy and simplifies operation.
  • Ultra-smooth surface – Porcelain-like glaze reduces dross formation.
  • High strength & lightweight – Comparable to stainless steel, easy to handle.
  • No silicon pickup – BN coating isolates aluminum from the substrate.
  • No cross-contamination – Ideal for switching between different alloys.
  • Low heat loss – Excellent thermal insulation reduces temperature drop.
  • Easy maintenance – Simple sanding and recoating with BN.

FAQ

Does this launder need preheating?

No. The ceramic fiber material has very low heat absorption – you can use it directly.

What is the maximum aluminum temperature?

Do not exceed 780°C (1436°F). Higher temperatures may damage the BN coating.

How long does it last?

Standard life is 4 months. With special surface treatment, up to 12 months under normal use.

Can I repair it if it cracks?

Yes. Use repair compound and recoat with BN following the maintenance steps above.

Is it suitable for different aluminum alloys?

Absolutely. The BN coating prevents cross-contamination, making it ideal for switching between series (e.g., 1xxx to 6xxx).
